Remove the Meta Section Whenever Possible
Most all themes integrate Meta section in the sidebar. If you have one, then remove it and here’s the reason why.
The Meta section as most of available themes lists few links like “Login” or “XHTML Valid.” Meta links are not meant for your visitors. They were meant for personal use. So why bother displaying it and further taking your valuable space in the sidebar?
As quoted from DailyBlogTips:
While those links might be useful for the owner of the blog, they offer no value at all for the reader. Sometimes the Meta might even be counterproductive, since it also carries a link to the Wordpress RSS feed. If you are using Feedburner some of your readers might end up with the wrong feed if they click on these links.
I can’t do anything but agree to this point. Taking out the Meta links and replacing that valuable space with something more resourceful is one of the first step I do when installing new WordPress theme. However, if you insist of having one on your blog, put it in the footer where it will look smarter and less obtrusive.
